“Where horsepower meets conversation”

By Paul Kramer · January 5, 2026

🎧 Have you listened to our latest podcast yet?

If you don’t speak “Porsche,” it’s hard to understand us Weissach nerds. When we congregate, we sound like the Illuminati chanting in secret code.

“Dot one” this, “dot two” that… 997, Mezger, blah, blah, blah. To outsiders, it all sounds like Pig Latin.

But for those who do speak this wonderfully obnoxious dialect, here’s a fun bit of Porsche numerology you may not know:

🏎️ The 997 “Dot One-and-a-Half” Turbo

During model transitions and facelift periods, Porsche often merged two iterations of a car. As the Mezger-era 997.1 Turbo was nearing its end, Porsche quietly released a limited batch of 997.1½ Turbo models.

These cars received:

  • The coveted Mezger engine from the 997.1

  • The much-improved interior of the 997.2

In other words: the best of both worlds.

Only 248 manual Cabriolet versions were delivered to North America. Why did Porsche do this? Does it even matter? Maybe not—but it gives us fanatics yet another 911 variant to debate endlessly.

And honestly, that’s half the fun.
