Every once in a while we get an email that perfectly captures the modern enthusiast dilemma.
This week’s winner comes from a listener who has officially reached Peak Porsche Enlightenment™… and now can’t sleep at night because of it.
Here’s the short version:
He did everything “right.”
Late 30s. Financial boxes checked. Posters on the wall as a kid. GT cars were always the dream. He climbed the ladder properly—Carrera T → Spyder RS → GT3 Touring allocation secured.
No impulse buys. No midlife meltdown. No Instagram-fueled stupidity.
And yet…
Now that the 2026 GT3 Touring allocation is real, so is the price.
North of $300,000 real.
And suddenly the question isn’t “Can I?”
It’s “Am I out of my damn mind?”
This wouldn’t be a daily driver.
It wouldn’t see a track.
It would be a fourth car—used for family cruises, back roads, and road trips.
He’s already spun a car to 9,000 RPM. He knows exactly how magical it is. He knows exactly how good the GT3 Touring would be.
But he also knows this:
That same money used to buy a house.
Now it buys a 911… with cloth door pulls.
So the doubt creeps in.
Do you really need the GT3 badge…
or are you just paying six figures for regret insurance?
He keeps circling back to a dangerous thought:
“What if I went back to a Carrera T, specced it properly, modified it intelligently—and kept over $100,000 in my pocket?”
Sure, the resale hit would be worse.
Sure, the forums would judge him silently.
But he’d drive the hell out of it without doing mental math every time he turned the key.
And that’s the real question, isn’t it?
Is the regret of not buying the GT3 worse than the anxiety of owning a $300K car you’re afraid to fully enjoy?
Because at this level, this isn’t about speed.
It’s not about lap times.
It’s not even about Porsche.
It’s about psychology.
Do you want the ultimate spec sheet,
or the ultimate ownership experience?
And if you’re being brutally honest with yourself…
Would you actually have more fun in the “lesser” car?
That’s what our listener is wrestling with—and if you’re nodding along right now, you already know why this one hits close to home.
We’ll give you our take on the show.
But first, we want yours.
👉 Would you pull the trigger on the $300K GT3 Touring?
👉 Or would you walk away, pocket the difference, and drive guilt-free?
Because sometimes the most expensive car in the garage is the one that makes you think too much.
