Let’s get something straight right out of the gate:
Most people have terrible taste in cars.
Not because they’re dumb—but because they confuse:
fast with beautiful
expensive with beautiful
“Fast & Furious famous” with beautiful
This list fixes that.
This is not about horsepower.
Not about Nürburgring times.
Not about what your buddy swears is “peak JDM.”
This is about one thing only:
👉 If you parked it, walked away… and then turned back around just to look at it again.
1. Mazda RX-7 FD — The Shape That Ruined Everything Else



If you don’t think this is beautiful, stop reading.

The FD is what happens when designers are allowed to say:
“What if we just… didn’t mess it up?”
No sharp edges. No fake vents. No nonsense.

This is the car that made everything after it feel overdesigned.

The NSX doesn’t scream.
It doesn’t need to.
It’s the guy in the room wearing a perfectly tailored suit while everyone else is trying too hard.

And yet somehow… unforgettable.


3. Lexus LC500 — Proof Japan Still Has It
This car shouldn’t work.
It’s too bold. Too dramatic. Too modern.
And yet…
It does.
The LC500 is what happens when Lexus stops being polite and decides to flex.

Yes, it’s older than 50 years.
No, we’re not leaving it out.
Because if you do, you’re basically saying:
“I don’t actually care about design.”

Long hood. Tight proportions. Nothing wasted.
This isn’t just a Japanese icon—it’s a global one.

5. Nissan 240Z — The Everyman Masterpiece
Here’s the magic trick:
The 240Z is simple enough to be affordable…
…but good enough to sit next to far more expensive cars without embarrassment.
That’s rare.
No excess. No gimmicks.
Just honest design.




6. Lexus LFA — The Beautiful Machine
This one divides people.
Because it’s not “pretty.”
It’s… engineered beauty.
Every vent, every crease, every angle exists for a reason.

It’s the difference between:
a sculpture
and a fighter jet
The LFA is the jet.


7. Mazda RX-7 FC — The Quiet Genius
Everyone talks about the FD.
But the FC?
This is restraint at a level most designers can’t pull off.
It’s almost boring… until you realize it’s actually just correct.




8. Toyota Supra Mk4 — Yes, It Belongs Here

Ignore the hype.
Ignore the memes.
Look at it objectively.
The curves. The stance. The way everything flows into everything else.
It’s not subtle—but it is cohesive.

9. Nissan GT-R R32 — Boxy Done Right
This is the anti-FD.
Sharp edges. Flat planes. No curves.
And yet—it works.
Because it knows exactly what it is.
Purposeful. Clean. No apology.


10. Mazda Cosmo Sport — The One That Started It All

If you’ve never seen one in person, it’s shocking.
It doesn’t feel like an early Japanese car.
It feels… European. Delicate. Intentional.
This is where Japan quietly said:
“We can do beauty too.”

R34 GT-R → Icon? Yes. Beautiful? Not really. Too busy.
Mk5 Supra → Designed by committee energy
New NSX → Lost the original’s restraint
350Z / 370Z → Chunky. Heavy. Trying too hard
The Real Takeaway (This Is the Part Most People Miss)
The most beautiful Japanese cars aren’t the loudest.
They all share the same DNA:
They stop before adding “one more line”
They prioritize proportion over features
They age well
That’s the difference.
